A few methods for setting up audio conferences
- The ESNET provides a scheduled service where up
to 25 participants can call in to a (Berkeley) phone number. This
service is available on a first come, first served basis. http://abm.es.net/
- Another related option is that if
there is an ESNET based (82nnnn or 88nnnn etc.) video conference
where some of the participants want to connect audio only, they can
call in to a phone number and enter the conference ID. This is an ad-hoc feature since video conferences are ad-hoc.
- Lab telephones support linking in one call. To
do that, after the first call is established, press the 'Flash" ("Link"
on some phones) and then there will be another dialtone. Then press
Flash again and the calls are conferenced. The second call which is
being conferenced in cannot be an incoming call, you have to initiate
the second call.
- The Operator can set up an audio conference with
up to 20 participants given 24 hours notice. There is a cost per
perticipant per minute. There are toll and toll free calling options
for joining the confernece.
